Summer Collection - Look 2

So I'm posting these backwards (as I finish pieces :), and this simple shift was intended to be Look 1.  It's the most simple of linen shifts, essentially shapeless with a tiny bit of back detailing. There's nothing better than throwing on an easy breezy piece on laid back days.

Summer Collection - Look 1

Skirt: self-made  Top: Nordstrom  Shoes: Zara

One of three looks I designed & made as a summer collection for this year.  A breezy cream jersey maxi that opens up into a fun silk print in the back.  More to come!

In between

I'm so glad it's halfway through the week.  The weather here in Minneapolis has been dreadfully winter for so long, and the one glimpse of spring weather (Above 60!  And maybe some sun too!) is this Sunday.  I am so ready for the days of biking to work, outdoor patio happy hours, and Sunday picnics.  It's such an in-between time.  My mood is easily affected by it too - R has been super great at trying to cheer me up, but I'm grasping for that super-excited feeling I had just last summer, on the brink of moving here.

I still haven't quite ditched the opaque tights & boots at work, sad as that is.  Instead, I'm starting to look to classic neutrals & fresh, ligher fabrics, like utility jackets and flowing skirts.  Paired with grounding basics, some new-season pieces can be perfectly transitional (except it will still be a while until I can pull of sandals around here, with snow still on the ground).

~

Keep your fingers crossed that it will finally be nice out soon - as soon as it's nice, I'll be showing you my spring/summer collection!

Pinterested: Hair

I have been keeping my eyes open for a great new hairstyle.  Pinterest has been a great place to look for inspiration.  Want to see what I have found so far?

Lust List

Since I've been working from home more frequently lately, I also have a very dangerous proximity to the internet.  I can't help but take a few breaks throughout the day to find some crave-able items to add to my wish list.  Here are my top crushes:

I am loving the idea of super thin, delicate jewelry (except for the big bold statement Tory Burch cuff of course!).  I especially have my eye on the beautiful ampersand ring.

Target Design Collaboration: Kate Young

Right after we get a peek at Prabal Gurung's collection for Target, the next design partnership is announced: Kate Young for Target.

Target released some sketches that hint at the future collection - what do you think??  I'm personally loving the sophisticated vibe of each look!

The collection arrives on April 14!

Dress: Gap; Shirt: J. Crew; Necklace: J. Crew; Shoes: Target

This weekend was an impromptu sister bash in Minneapolis.  We dressed up, ate pastries, and checked out local boutiques.  The perfect way to refresh.  Here's to a great week ahead!

Favorite Places MPLS: Parc Boutique

Parc Boutique in Northeast Minneapolis is the cutest shop - and you can be almost guaranteed to not walk out empty handed!  I love this boutiqe for its unique, high-style pieces, and the design of the shop itself is inspiring.  If you're in the Twin Cities, make sure to check it out!

There Are No Rules at Tea

The best way to kick off the holiday season?  Afternoon tea with the girls, of course.

The menu: Raspberry champagne and our choice of teas, miniature sandwiches, dreamy cranberry orange and cinnamon raisin scones, and many desserts (gingerbread, blueberry buckle bread, chocolate-dipped cheesecake...)

What do you like to wear on Thanksgiving?

Does anyone else plan their Thanksgiving outfit with, er, expandability in the equation?  What's your preferred Thanksgiving go-to outfit?  Borderline pajama pants would be a great choice :)

Happy Thanksgiving!  Safest travels :)

Work Outfit Inspiration

All Images: Nordstrom

So... workwear.  The pencil skirt-and-cardigan combo is such a go-to of mine, and it can easily become a creativity-free rut.  These looks from Nordstrom really inspire me to play with the basic outfit outline, mixing in geometric patterns and interesting color schemes (hello, berry and turquoise!).  Also, how fabulous are those glasses?
