Featuring: The Foundry

Here is a photographic spotlight on a Minneapolis favorite.  The Foundry is an amazing boutique shop, supplying the perfect household items.  Each good is hand picked by the owner (who was also working  the shop whenever we stopped in), and is chosen with great intention and care.  Basically, living in the shop would be like living in Kinfolk (so dreamy).  Though you can't shop the store online, it is full of great inspiration and happiness, so take a wonder over there and see what the shop is all about.  It is the kind of place that makes you breathe deeper, you know?

Hope your week is happy and calm.  We've almost made it to Friday...

Minneapolis, City of Sisterly Love

A few highlights of our sister time in Minneapolis.  It was insanely cold, but we managed to keep warm with shopping and pastries.  And wine.  There is always wine.

This weekend was an impromptu sister bash in Minneapolis.  We dressed up, ate pastries, and checked out local boutiques.  The perfect way to refresh.  Here's to a great week ahead!

Favorite Places MPLS: Parc Boutique

Parc Boutique in Northeast Minneapolis is the cutest shop - and you can be almost guaranteed to not walk out empty handed!  I love this boutiqe for its unique, high-style pieces, and the design of the shop itself is inspiring.  If you're in the Twin Cities, make sure to check it out!

Friday Musings 12.7.12.

SLR is going to Minneapolis! S and the parents are heading out today to visit L in her new city.  The plan is to drink wine, laugh, enjoy each other's company, listen to Christmas music (24/7), and go Christmas shopping in one of the famous Minneapolis area malls.  I am so excited to see Minneapolis for the first time!

Also thrilled to be seeing a few of my favorites (though we will be missing the brother dearly)...

Have a happy weekend!

Project Apartment: Moved in!

Finally - I'm in my apartment!  It's been a long time coming, but I'm thrilled to be here and be finally settled; moving is The Worst.

Remember when it looked like this

MNFW

My friend Beatrice and I went to Minnesota fashion week together.  MNFW was great to go to during my first few weeks in my new city.  We went to the shows and to Vintage Did It First hosted by Blacklist Vintage, where runway looks were recreated exclusively in vintage pieces.  Some of my favorite looks:

Later in the week took place the incredible main shows. We saw collections from local designers including Lindsey Hopkins and Christopher Staub.

My favorite looks from Lindsey Hopkins:

Favorite looks from Christopher Straub:
Bad photos my own, good photos from vita.mn

What do you think?  It's so inspiring to me to be living in a city with huge talent and resources.  Can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Moving

It's moving day!  I finally get the keys to my new apartment and begin my new job oh so soon!  I'll share my apartment tour in the next couple of weeks.  Saying goodbye to family and home was so hard, but I'm in for an adventure.  That's what growing up is all about.

Project Apartment: Found it!

BIG Project Apartment news!  I found the apartment!

My new street in the Warehouse District, and my building.  It's an old factory built in 1926 that is currently being converted into apartments, which means my place will be new-yet-vintage

Appliances are coming :)  - the kitchen is new and modern-ish

Check out this elevator shaft!  I think the bones of the building, where you can really see it's age and history, are the coolest parts.

Dining/living room under construction - the interior brick wall made me SWOON.  It's in the bedroom too.

My future bedroom :)

So what do you think?  I cannot wait to get in and get my hands on it.  Now we can really get to the fun part - decorating!!!
