Summer Collection - Look 2

So I'm posting these backwards (as I finish pieces :), and this simple shift was intended to be Look 1.  It's the most simple of linen shifts, essentially shapeless with a tiny bit of back detailing. There's nothing better than throwing on an easy breezy piece on laid back days.

Summer Collection - Look 1

Skirt: self-made  Top: Nordstrom  Shoes: Zara

One of three looks I designed & made as a summer collection for this year.  A breezy cream jersey maxi that opens up into a fun silk print in the back.  More to come!

Gilt Warehouse Sale

This Saturday, Chicago hosted the fabulous online shopping source Gilt for a one-time (we hope it was such a success that it grows to be a regular occurrence...) warehouse sale.  Gilt brought in all sorts of designer items to sell at a super discount- men's and women's apparel, shoes galore, baby clothes, home goods, bathing suits, accessories, and even more.
I managed to avoid doing too much damage.  I took home a gorgeous deep plum ruched number by Vera Wang.  That girl knows here stuff.
What a fun event! Look out for similar warehouse-style sales by your favorite online shopping venues.  It's a great way to spend an afternoon.  Plus, such sales often come with freebies... there were plenty of mimosas flowing.  Just sayin'.

Thanks to Gilt for a fabulous time!

Lust List

Since I've been working from home more frequently lately, I also have a very dangerous proximity to the internet.  I can't help but take a few breaks throughout the day to find some crave-able items to add to my wish list.  Here are my top crushes:

I am loving the idea of super thin, delicate jewelry (except for the big bold statement Tory Burch cuff of course!).  I especially have my eye on the beautiful ampersand ring.

I made this skirt over the weekend.  It's a black and white tweed, which goes with everything.  New skirts make new weeks a little brighter.

Have a happy Monday!

Fashion Week Outfit

Pants: H&M  Top: Jcrew  Booties: Marshalls

I've been gravitating to the cropped pant and bootie combo lately - Ryan thinks it's "weird that your leg skin is showing" but I think it's a pretty transitional look while we're teetering on the edge of fall weather.  Also, it was fun to put together outfits for MN Fashion Week this week!

Will I see you in September?

This is our last post of August, and in a way our last post of summer.  September just says "fall" to me, even if it stays summertime warm for a few more weeks.

It's also a big moment for us; by Monday, L will officially be in Minneapolis, and S is already settling into her new life in Chicago.  But even in the midst of all the excitement, it's hard not to mourn the loss of a fantastic summer

Our up north cottage growing up was decorated in blue and yellow, and we have always associated the color combo with summer.  This Anthropologie skirt fit the bill perfectly for a casual dinner out at the end of a lovely summer.

So, to send off August, here's a song for you.  See you in September.
