Guess That Blogger

This is my friend Beatrice.
Hi, B!

Doesn't she just rock peplum?

Beatrice and I both love blogs, so she wants to play a little game with you.  The game is called "Guess That Blogger"!  You have to guess who she is being based on her outfit photo pose.  Ready?

#1: Spunky, always entertaining, and never ever matches.

#2: Sweet, classic, everything an original fashion blogger should be.

#3: New York serious, super stylist, fashion warrior.

Any guesses???

Project Apartment: Moved in!

Finally - I'm in my apartment!  It's been a long time coming, but I'm thrilled to be here and be finally settled; moving is The Worst.

Remember when it looked like this

Shop-Free October, and a dose of honesty

~

I have a shopping problem.

I know, it's a common "girl problem" to have.  But now that I'm out in the real world doing the adult thing full-time, it's high time that I get down to being an adult financially.  Honestly, I lost track of my spending on wants, not needs, over the past year.  And blogs had a lot to do with it, actually - the more cute outfits I saw on fashion blogs, the more I was motivated to shop even more.

With the introduction of way more expenses into my life, it's just not feasible for me to turn so many "wants" into "have's" anymore.  So - the solution?  A budget.  (Duh.)  And a serious, serious shopping soul-purge.

For the shopping purge, I'm going Shop Free October.  It's a challenge (especially since I work in corporate retail now), but I need to find new vices other than shopping.  This includes clothes AND home decor.  And, uh, this is going to be hard for me being in a new apartment and all (stay tuned for my apartment reveal tomorrow!).

Regarding my budget (which I will share about later in the week), I am going to reward myself for a Shop Free October by rerouting the money I don't spend into a FABULOUS Sister Weekend (I promise, S!) because I want my spending to reflect my values way more truly than it does now, and being far away is hard.

I hereby declare Shop-Free October on!  Anyone care to join me?

MNFW

My friend Beatrice and I went to Minnesota fashion week together.  MNFW was great to go to during my first few weeks in my new city.  We went to the shows and to Vintage Did It First hosted by Blacklist Vintage, where runway looks were recreated exclusively in vintage pieces.  Some of my favorite looks:

Later in the week took place the incredible main shows. We saw collections from local designers including Lindsey Hopkins and Christopher Staub.

My favorite looks from Lindsey Hopkins:

Favorite looks from Christopher Straub:
Bad photos my own, good photos from vita.mn

What do you think?  It's so inspiring to me to be living in a city with huge talent and resources.  Can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Fashion Week Outfit

Pants: H&M  Top: Jcrew  Booties: Marshalls

I've been gravitating to the cropped pant and bootie combo lately - Ryan thinks it's "weird that your leg skin is showing" but I think it's a pretty transitional look while we're teetering on the edge of fall weather.  Also, it was fun to put together outfits for MN Fashion Week this week!

fall fashion inspiration

Taking some fall fashion tips from Emerson Fry's new collection.  Dreaming of tomboy style, effortless layers of fabrics of different weights, and classic jackets.  Now that I've finally accepted the fact that it's autumn, I am fully embracing fall weather dressing.  Hoping to use some of these outfits as templates for those days when I just cannot figure out what to wear!
